Cold, snowy weather and a different schedule kept me away from the site. But on returning I found no change from my last visit.
Probably this is a victory for free flowing streams. I communicated with the area manager for Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife about this contest. The reply was that, probably, the Washington Department of Transportation was concerned about water next to SR 202 and kept an eye on this part of the wetland to be sure there was no blockage.
I hope the beaver finds a more congenial setting and builds his dam (or dams). For now, I'll leave this story, perhaps, to ripen and mature.

Another quick followup to an imminent rebuilding. I guess the beaver feels like those of us who try to keep up with the cost of living.
I'd surely like to get a peek at the industrious guy. I've certainly been convinced that he's still active on Evans Creek.

It was up and down, as far as the dam goes. But BB is still dragging branches and twigs to his favorite spot on Evans Creek. This two-week period marks two strong attempts to master the creek and as many cases of inteference from "someone." Click Read more for a series of photos taken during this period.

Here's goes the fifth round! Our beaver has some grit, and still a lot of brush to drag to the dam.
I think it's time to do more research on the handling of beavers in this area. It seems like it might be a hidden niche between city, county and state. Can a simple beaver dam get so complicated?
